Anti-health riots show wingnuts own the GOP

The Republicans are wary of being tagged as the Wingnut Party. When the wingnuts do something particularly insane, the party leaders who have been egging them on suddenly backpedal. But the fact remains that the wingnuts are the party. They have worked for twenty years to drive moderates and non-wingnuts out of the party, they forced McCain to pick Palin, and today they so thoroughly dominate the party that almost half the party doubts that Obama was born in the U.S. and almost half the party thinks there is too little coverage of the so-called birther scandal. Which increases the odds that they will pick a wingnut candidate like Palin in 2012.
