News flash: George Will has discovered the law!

"Anyone, said T.S. Eliot, could carve a goose, were it not for the bones. And anyone could govern as boldly as his whims decreed, were it not for the skeletal structure that keeps civil society civil -- the rule of law. The Obama administration is bold. It also is careless regarding constitutional values and is acquiring a tincture of lawlessness."

For eight years George Will held Bush's coat for him, as Bush violated the Constitution and the "skeletal structure" of our federal laws so many times that even Nixon would have been appalled. Now that a Democrat is in the White House, suddenly Will is Archibald Cox and Inspector Javert all rolled into one, crouched to the ground with his metaphorical magnifying glass, looking for clues.

Likewise, 29 years after helping to usher in the Reagan era, the beginning of three decades of disastrous Republican fiscal policies, Will has suddenly discovered fiscal responsibility. It only took him three decades to get a freakin' clue.

And of course he has his facts wrong. His accusations of lawbreaking don't have any, ya know, law behind them.

After reading Will's drivel for years, I can tell you that whenever he begins one of his pseudointellectual ramblings and starts quoting dead writers and philosophers, turn your Bullshit Detector up to the "STUN" setting and it will begin to emit a series of hearty A-OOGA's.

Sorry, George, but a dippy bowtie and a copy of Bartlett's quotations won't turn you into your hero William F. Buckley. And even Buckley was an intellectual fraud. What's le mot juste for a "fraud wanna-be"?

Hey George -- I will give you triple-word-score for the needless invocation of the word "ukase" ("the word derives from czarist Russia; how appropriate"). Did Mummy get you a new thesaurus along with the Bartlett's Familiar?

Better you than me. Life is too short to read George Frederick Will.

I'll never forgive him for live-puffing Raygun's debate performance after he'd prepped him with Carter's stolen briefing book. We knew then that it was a rigged game.

He got off on a technicality: Carter accused him of actually stealing it, but couldn't prove it. Bow-tie has never looked back.

I still don't get how Will still has a career. His "ideas" are all second-hand, they're thirty years out of date, and they were dead wrong even when they were new. And there are so many other people who could be doing his job more effectively, at half his salary.

Let him go write a book on baseball or something.

Glad someone else noticed how bad his latest tripe is.

This is a key reason for this site.

The Republicans have gotten away with murder for 30 years because the Democrats were too polite to fight back and shoot down the lies.

A perfect depiction of this was that Recount movie, a retelling of the 2000 election, where the leader of the Democratic team, Warren Christopher, wanted a nice pretty Marquis of Queensbury fight over the election, so the history books would look favorably on them. The leader of the GOP team, Jim Baker, immediately sat down and plotted a strategy to WIN.

Democrats can win every fight they get into, with the Republicans, because we have the facts and the history on our side -- IF we're willing to fight. We don't have to lie, we don't have to fight dirty -- but we do have to fight.
