Rightwinger condemns Bush/Cheney torture strategy

Bob Barr, one of the arch-conservatives who led the fight to impeach Clinton, is no panty-waist liberal. But even he is throwing the bullshit flag regarding efforts by people like Cheney to defend the illegal use of torture under the doctrine of protecting intelligence sources and methods. This argument is as absurd as all the other dodges the Republicans have used over the last 40 years to cover up their crimes – sources and methods, executive privilege, separation of powers and so forth. It’s a corollary of Nixon’s assertion, echoed recently by Cheney, that nothing the President does is illegal. Barr points out that the sources-and-methods doctrine was mostly designed to keep our intelligence officers from getting killed in the line of duty, not to conceal crimes by officials.
