Steele: GOP welcomes moderate votes, not their opinions
"All you moderates out there, y'all come. I mean, that's the message....The message of this party is this is a big table for everyone to have a seat. I have a place setting with your name on the front....Understand that when you come into someone's house, you're not looking to change it. You come in because that's the place you want to be."
Swear to God. Direct quote.
In other words -- We don't give a damn about your actual opinions, we just want to exploit your votes so we can win elections. Because we think you're stupid. We expect you to endorse exactly the same rightwing lunacy that...you moderates just rejected in the 2008 election.
We won't let you talk in the meetings -- but our doughnuts are better than the Blue Team's!
Sorry, Mikey, they already rejected you and traded up to the Dems. Once millions of people realize that the GOP has been conning them for 30 years, singing "Reconsider, Baby" isn't going to get them to change their minds. They're not going to magically unlearn the truth and fall under the spell of your Koolaid again. It's like trying to talk your ex-wife into taking you back once she knows you've cheated on her.
Hat tips to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Think Progress.
